Watch out....

When I was Wikipedia-ing something this afternoon, I got this:

I found that just a liiiittle bit scary. It's like Wikipedia is going to turn into this massive 1984-ish brain-washing nightmare a la "Big Brother Forever!" or something like that. Although I'll have to admit - if I want to know something, the first thing I do is Wiki it to find out, so they've already corrupted me!

Or maybe it's like that movie "The Net", where people who click on a hidden icon in a chatroom get transported to this terrorism website. The code symbol was a pi (no, not pie) and the group were called the Pythagoreans. If I was a terrorist, I'd pick a less nerdy sounding name...

Oh wait, it's ok! I clicked all over the "Wikipedia Forever" bit and nothing happened. And I scrolled all over the page, but there's no pi symbol. All good :)

In other news, I rejoice at the fact that after tomorrow, I'll never have to do Physiology ever again! *happy dances*

ps. yes, I am still painfully aware I should be studying....

I do not own Lauralee Sherwood's Human Physiology: From Cells to Systems 6th Edition.

(well actually I do have a copy but technically it's Frank's. Shouts to Frank!)

....

okay, so that post was just procrastination - but can you blame me?

Back to study....

F.A.I.L. story of my life.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Some delightfully pessimistic soul has made a slight change to our noble institution's promotional sticker....

This may be viewed (real and larger than life) at the Physiology refect, next to the Spch girl's favourite table on the top deck.

That is all.

Good luck for exams!

ps. hmmm. you can see my reflection in the glass.

When I grow up, I wanna be famous...

ZOMG!! it's an update! I'm alive~~

A little girl came into the physio this morning, she's one of the regular patient's daughters.

Heya Lorna, you look so pretty today, anything special?
Yeah, we're having visitors over.
And why is that?
It was my birthday this week, so we're having a party!
Oh wow, and how old are you now?
I'm five! *holds up five fingers*
Five? You're all grown up now! What are you going to do now you're all grown up?
*thinks a while*
I'm going to eat my vegetables.

That's right girl, you eat those vegetables and grow up big and strong XD

Nineteen.

Is not old. yeah. that's right.

And a massive Thank You to the lovelies of MYF, who put together (two) fabulous cakes for me behind my back!!

No wonder I came up after service and you were all like, "how do we do it without her knowing?" and I butted in "what's up?" and you went "BYE!" and scattered like little ants.... I am so unsuspicious.

And of course, photos. Please forgive my shabbyness and general tired-looking-ness. Jacarandas are in bloom. Exams are nigh. *bows*

The MYF cake on Sunday! And little sheepy* now sitting my dashboard! And optimum tired-ness!

Mum's mango cake! Cruddy bum t-shirt!

The Miss Universe pose!

Mummy and daddy! very disturbed at increasing similarity to pater.

Sister love! Vonnie so tanned...

Thank you so much guys! *bows* Makes the perfect start to my last year of teens :)
Oh, and best of luck for exams!! Work hard!

Heidi
* Ps. we are still out and about looking for the perfect nickname for our beloved Camry. Taking bids... now.

Hello from Canada!

Where the summers are colder than Brisbane winters!!

Yes, I haven't been in touch with people in a very very long time. My bad!

Holidays have been awesome so far, shall I tell you what I did?? if you don't really want to know, then skip down to "bits worth noting" below. that's all you really need to note :P

BRISBANE:

Hopped on the plane on Sunday morning when you guys were probably in service, local Brisbane temp about, I dunno, 22C? Half an iPod battery later I arrive in HK where the heat is sweltering and humid, about 32C but feels a lot more because it's so sticky!! Yewch.

HONG KONG:

1st night: picked by auntie Amanda at airport (my own parents wouldn't even pick me up because "they have no car"), went for dinner with auntie, parents, uncle, etc.

2nd day: uncle Alfred arrived from LA, application for HK identity smart card, shopping, food, sleep.

3rd day: visiting Grandma (she remembers me! yay!), shopping with uncle Ringo and his son Alman, food, sleep.

4th day: departed for Xian on a 5 day, 4 night tour of the ancient capital of China.

5th-8th day: Terracotta warriors, ancient tombs of the kings, ancient palaces, museums, galleries, baths, hot springs.

by the way, Xian is REALLY hot. like, wandering round the city in over 39C heat. I die.

return to HK for dinner.

9th day: more shopping, food, sleep.

10th day: Grandma's bday dinner, midnight flight to Vancouver.

VANCOUVER:

1st night: seemed to have gained about 3 hrs. arrived, said hello, went to sleep.

2nd day: food, shopping, sleep.

3rd day: food, shopping, sleep, saw Granville island and its markets.

4th-7th day: 4 day, 3 trip night to the interior of British Columbia (state where Vancouver is). very very very very cold. crazies were sighted wandering round in thongs and shorts commenting about 'luhvly weather we're havin' "

arrived back to a (once again) very large dinner.

8th day: Aberdeen shopping centre, $2 daiso, Wal-mart, Gastown, scary parking meters, tourist district.

9th day: 1 day tour to Whistler, where there is still snow! on the mountains. lovely cable-car ride to mid-way up the mountain. freeeeezing cold, have pictures of us with red cheeks and noses. occured to me that i was wearing the same outfit in 28C brisbane, 34C Hongkong, 20C vancouver and 3C whistler. which was jeans and tshirt and my favourite striped jacket. my teeth were chattering so much i think they cracked.

OTHER THINGS WORTH NOTING:

Notes on living in Hongkong:

We now have Wii + WiiFit. YES!!!

Food is very very very cheap (massive breakfast = pineapple bun + bowl of noodles + large drink = HK$20 = less than AU$3) and I am getting very fat. must do lots of study when i come home because stressing about exams does things for weight loss which mere exercise will never do.

I have a lot of new clothes. It's ridiculously priced. I mean, HK$100 for 3 tshirts? that's AU$15, so $5 for a shirt. and they're nice shirts too. I have also acquired plenty of new shoes, pants, jeans, skirts, jackets, sunnies and more. How will i carry it all home? Oh, I may have gained a few extra pounds too.......

Notes on living in Vancouver:

there are 18 people living in this house. granted, it's a very big house, very typical vancouver-style with a big cellar/basement, making a total of 3 levels, but still, its 18 people.

it sort of means no one gets embarrassed anymore when you do your laundry (omgsh! their underwear! my eyes burn!), and you have to announce your need to pee/shower in advance, because there's 9 people living in the cellar and 1 bathroom for them to use.

there is a continuous banging/rattling of Mahjong tiles as my Grandma and uncles/aunties go at it like wildfire (but stakes are small. dad brought in $3.20 yesterday. woot.) while in the next room my cousins (all male. woot.) are enjoying Pro Evolution 2008 (see? i even know their games now) with massive surround sound. that's a soccer game for those who don't know, and they kind of start making grunting noises halfway through and scream and jump when they score a goal. sad but true. that's family for you.

in a note to dear Ness, my cousins Peter and Robert love the Office and kind of got me and Vonnie started on it as well. so now you can scream and jump as well :)

they also have Heroes, Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy and 24, so I shall be a busy-bee!!

they have Rock Band on PS3, which is really fun and good to watch Robert who really gets into it when he plays Enter Sandman by Metallica. I should tape him. He starts bobbing his head in time to it and stuff. teehee!

I just got back from outlet-shopping. I have lots and lots of new clothes!! YAY!!

and vancouver Maccas is SOOOO much better. and they have Tim Hortons. Which is like a glorified version of Gloria Jeans, with a much wider food selection. and really good sandwiches and clam chowder. nyum.

now vonnie is screaming to use the comp. so i shall go.

if you want details, you can ask in the comment box!!

and let me know about Elevate asap!!

love you all!! xoxo
